Over Shoulder

So here's an attempt at some pseudo-digital art. Not very good at this yet, but I like the way I can go back and forth and undo stuff I mess up on. The tablet is going to take some practice, though, and it's been a long time since I tried to paint anything, digitally or traditionally.

I scanned in a sketch done in pencil, and colored it in PS Elements using a Wacom Intuos. I copied the pencil layer to a new image file, and then painted underneath it. That halo effect is just the paper texture showing through after I erased the outside edges. I was just looking to see what it would look like if I cleaned up the paper texture, and I liked it. Happy accidents!
